If you’re planning a milestone celebration in Dubrovnik — a significant birthday, a wedding anniversary, or that question you’ve been carrying around in your pocket for weeks — a private boat is not just an option. There is something about being on the water that strips away the noise and pressure of everyday life and creates a space where the moment itself can breathe.

Over the years, we’ve helped orchestrate everything from quiet proposals for two to 50th birthday celebrations for twelve. Every event is different, but here’s what we typically coordinate:
Champagne and wine: chilled and ready on board when you arrive. We can source specific labels on request or recommend excellent local Croatian wines that most visitors have never encountered. If you have a favourite vintage or a bottle with personal significance, bring it along and we’ll have it properly chilled and ready at the right moment.
Food: from simple grazing platters prepared on board to a full lunch at a handpicked harbourside restaurant where the owner knows us by name and the fish was caught that morning. We can accommodate virtually any dietary requirement and will always confirm details in advance so there are no surprises.
Flowers and decorations: subtle and tasteful. If you’re proposing, we can have flowers arranged on the bow before your partner boards. If it’s a birthday, a simple setup that feels personal rather than corporate. We believe decorations should enhance the natural beauty of the setting, not compete with it.
Photography: we can recommend local photographers who specialise in natural, candid shots on the water. They join for part of the day, capture the key moments, and disappear before the experience starts to feel staged. The results are invariably stunning — the light on the Adriatic is a photographer’s dream.
Music: every boat has a Bluetooth sound system. Create your own playlist or ask your skipper for recommendations — they’re surprisingly good at reading the mood.
A Proposal at Sea: How It Actually Works
The logistics of proposing on a boat are simpler than you might think. You tell us the plan in advance — when you want the moment to happen, where you’d like to be (anchored in a quiet cove is popular, as is the stretch of water directly facing the Old Town at sunset), and what you’d like to have ready.
Your skipper is briefed and becomes your silent co-conspirator. They’ll navigate to the right spot at the right time, ensure the champagne is cold, and manage the ring handover if you’d rather not have it bouncing around in your pocket all day. One skipper has a particular talent for casually suggesting that the couple move to the bow ‘for a photo’ at precisely the right moment, giving you the stage without any suspicion.
After the moment itself, the day continues. There’s no rush to leave, no table to vacate, no bill to settle awkwardly. You celebrate on the water for as long as you wish. Some couples ask to continue to a special dinner on one of the islands; others are perfectly happy floating in a quiet cove, newly engaged, with nowhere to be and nothing to do but be together.
Birthday and Anniversary Celebrations
For group celebrations, the dynamic is different but equally rewarding. A private boat gives your group exclusive space — no shared venues, no noise restrictions (within reason), and no predetermined schedule. We’ve hosted birthday groups that wanted a high-energy day of swimming, cliff jumping, and music. We’ve also hosted anniversary couples who wanted nothing more than a gentle cruise along the islands with a quiet lunch and several bottles of local Posip.
Both are equally valid. Both are equally memorable. The point is that the day is entirely yours to shape. Your skipper will offer suggestions and handle the logistics, but the tone and pace are set by you and your guests.
